洋書・児童書です。がまくんとかえるくんという二匹のカエルが登場します。短いお話がいくつかあるのですが、「おてがみ」という話は、日本の小学校の国語の教科書にも載っています。がまくんとかえるくんは友達なので、見栄を張らずに弱さも出せます。
私は小学校の時、教科書で「おてがみ」を読み衝撃を受けました！恥を隠さないというところに、アメリカ人はすごいなあと思ったものです。
