洋書・児童書です。マーヴィンはアメリカの小学３年生の男の子です。新しい自転車を買ってもらいましたが、こわくて乗れません。今までの自転車よりずっと大きく感じていました。そんな時、急な坂道の丘から自転車で下ってみる提案を友達のニックとスチュアートがしてきました。マーヴィンは内心、嫌だなあと思っていますが周りの意見に流されてしまいます。クラスメートにも、その情報は広まり、マーヴィンは数日後の土曜の正午に丘から自転車で下る事が決まってしまいます。あっという間に土曜日になり‥‥
